Picnic Invitation on the Summer Solstice

I haven’t posted in a millennium or so. I just went through the hoops of transferring the account to google and all that wonderful stuff. Maybe I’ll get the hang of this technology stuff one day.

Alice and I were just looking through some old picture albums and found our wedding. Some of you remember that she and I were married in the park along the Vermilion River some 16 years ago. We will be celebrating this anniversary on the summer solstice, June 21, which is a Thursday. We have reserved the same pavilion (#4) on the Bacon Woods side of Mill Hollow, a.k.a. The Vermilion River Reservation of Lorain County Metroparks.

Alice and I are bringing meat, (hamburgers, brats, hotdogs), and typical summer picnic stuff. Guests are offering to bring side dishes and desserts. I hope somebody brings a guitar. I’m going early with my fishing pole. Anglers welcome. If an able-bodied tosser comes along, I sure hope we can enjoy a round of horse shoes. For those who work this first-summer’s day, please join us for a meal at least. 6:00 will be the target time for hot coals, sizzles and a variety of sides.

Solstice celebrations have not died. They have been subsumed by other observances as is the history of pagan ritual. In this case, a wedding identified with the ancient celestial observance is our moment of celebration.

Please email an RSVP. webbedfoot@gmail.com Although it might be OK for everyone to bring dessert, I will make suggestions if you are wondering what to bring.

Wishing that your karma, my friend, is as good as or better than mine,

Ray Stewart
