Happy ole year. No blah blah letter about who did what and results. Betsy and I are in Florida for the week visiting Alex and Tommy ("Hi everyone"). I understand that your Northren Saturday was 65 degrees, but that your Sunday was 25 and high winds. I will not stoop to tawdry tactics by way of comparison. I will take the high moral path and merely unclog my "Plbbbbbbbt!" in your general direction. But alas, it is fleeting, and, come next weekend, Paradise lost. The company to which I am currently pimped shut down for three days Christmas week for the benefit of their (direct) employees who get paid holiday time, and for two days New Year's week for the same. Everyone else loses. Eh. Gas prices lower, so we took a little drive to recharge the vitamin E.
The old Tortoise gets 30mpg if you stay below 65. Can't do much better with Detroit's finest these days. I hope that "energy efficiency" mandates can do a little better than 30 to 32 mpg in the next couple of years. There an Indian group of industries, the
Tata Group that is in nearly 100 different businesses both nationally and world-wide. They have been
hit by the global downturn lately, but don't seem to be cowed.
Tata Motors purchased Jaguar / Land Rover from Ford for $2.3 billion, and plan to introduce their own mini-car (priced at under $3000) in 2008. Check out the
Tata Nano. Two cylinder, four-seaters at low prices should attract lots of attention. There is lots of competition from India and China for future automotive manufacturing potential.
