| What's going on with The
Red Brick Times?
As some of you may have noticed Blogger has completely re-written not only its interface, but also the underlying code that makes it all happen. This led to our blog not publishing properly. Today (7/2) I finally had a bit of time to try and diagnose what's causing the problem (the Blogger people won't help in this because we're "free" users, meaning we don't pony up the monthly charges that some users pay). I think I may now know what's happening. Blogger has switched the method it uses to upload data from their site to the webserver we're hosted on. Unfortunately the web hosting service we use does not support the transfer protocol Blogger has switched to. Bummer. I'm in contact with techs from our hosting company but at this point things look a bit bleak. I don't think they will be willing to enable the protocol we now need. So, where does that leave us? Up shit creek for the moment. I'm going to develop a list of possible solutions and will get back to you here with them as soon as I can. A word of warning though, this ain't gonna be easy. whatley ------------------------------------ Update 7/2 2:30pm The techs at our hosting company (JaguarPC) have bent over backwards trying to help resolve this issue. So far though it's not working out, which means that there's a secondary issue beyond the protocol problem. Ye gods, what a hassle. I'll keep plugging away. |
